Fat Food Daze: Burger Bar
There are a couple things fate does right. In my case, that's flourishing my life with friends who love food as much as I do, to the point of gluttony.
As a post-birthday treat from me and Elise, we scheduled a sit-down with Batch 82, an occasion so rare since our schedules never get to match these days. They went to see Catching Fire last Friday (I didn't join since I already saw it Thursday night, and will see it again next week; there's such a thing as too much) so we settled for pre-movie snacks at Burger Bar.
The place was empty when we arrived, save for two occupied booths at the rear end. Elise, Burbie and I were there first and had to wait 30 minutes for the others. We took grainy early bird selfies to kill time.
As with most burger joints, their menu is filled with an assortment of sandwiches and designer burgers, as well as crisp-battered appetizers. You can also opt to customize your own burger (like in BRGR Project!).
Among the blinding choices, we went for two: The Cheeseburger and The Bar Burger. See, here, it's imperative to enunciate "THE" when you order because duh. It took a while for our orders to arrive, so we did what we do best: bug Elise to pour a gut-wrenching telltale of the matters of her heart out (all off the record, by the way), which ended up just her seating beside Emman who knew little about the goings on in her life right now, leading to weird giggles from us. That's all we ever wanted.
Oh, also, no phones allowed.
Now the burgers. Below is The Cheeseburger (remember the "the"). From the menu, it is "a single quarter-pounder house blend all-beef patty with American cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and sauce no. 3 on a sesame seed bun." Just look at that cheesefest. Yum.
I ordered The Bar Burger. "A big game blend of hanger and brisket, smoked scamorza and gorgonzola cheeses, fresh prosciutto, watercress spiked with sriracha aioli, crowned with crispy onions rings all on a brioche bun."
The burger patty was spot on. Mine was nearly well done (gaah, I would have loved it medium and pink but oh well) but it was still soft and juicy (though not as juicy as RoAm's, who had a puddle on her plate when she finished). You can easily taste the freshness of the meat. I heard they grind their meat and form their patties on site. A kink on this burger, though, is that I didn't taste the sriracha, and there were just too much of the fried onions for a single-patty burger, overpowering the overall taste and making it bland.
Anyhooooo, I'd probably come back, not for the burgers, but for their pasta and their tempting milkshakes. Here's a very grainy sapilitang group shot with the whole gang:
