The hype over the series have caused multitude of fans gunning over who's who to play their favorite characters. Personally, I found Hailee Steinfeld and Hunter Parrish perfect for Katniss and Peeta, respectively. I haven't really seen their movie/series, but looks-wise, and basing on clips I've seen on YouTube, I can just agree with most fans that they could very well be the leads in the movie franchise.
Much to my dismay, they were not casted for the said roles. Set to play Katniss is Jennifer Lawrence and, just yesterday, it was announced that Josh Hutcherson will play Peeta and Liam Hemsworth, Gale. I haven't seen Winter's Bone but everybody thought Lawrence was great in the film. I only saw her in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel and all I can think of is that she seems way older than the mature 16-yr old that is Katniss. I loved Hutcherson in Little Manhattan and actually had a cougar crush on him then. My sister and I shared a good laugh because we couldn't imagine little Josh all grown up. Well, since I have a huge crush on Peeta, I think Josh will do. Haha, that makes no sense at all. As with Liam, I don't know.
I've nothing against the casting but we all do our own little critiquing from time to time and this is no exception. I can't wait to see the movie. I can't wait to know who the rest of the cast will be, especially Haymitch, Effie, Cinna and Prim. I wish these actors would do justice to their roles, since we all know that the series is definitely the best thing since Harry Potter. And because of that fact, I would like to screw all those who had been comparing The Hunger Games with Twilight. FYI, adding Stephenie Meyer's name to the cover will never set Twilight at par with Collins' books. As for everything else, nothing beats our own imagination.
