wild flower

It's that time of the month again, sans the red stains, the lady cramps, and Gee. Dinner night with the (adjective to follow) Dinner Club! A night of question marks and happy crushes, and question marks surrounding the happy crushes.

We dined at Wildflour Café + Bakery, as planned. The space was small and compact. The kitchen and the baked goods display (which was so pretty, by the way) already occupied half of the restaurant, leaving room for around four dining tables inside. The place was packed so we were seated outside (mall area), where there were more (and longer) tables. Our table can seat six to eight people and the first thing the server asked us was if it was okay to share the table with other diners, if needed. We didn't mind. Fortunately, we had the table to ourselves for a good two hours.

Every table has a large white metal can that kept the utensils, a standard long neck bottle that the servers duly refilled with water, and a glass of muscovado sugar.
Aina had organic tea.
Our colorful drinks. The left one's Bea's, Homemade Strawberry-Lemon Soda; right one's mine, Green Tea Mojito, Pineapple, Basil. These were just okay. The excessive ice diluted the core taste of the drink, so yeah, it would've tasted better with lesser ice.

Aina had this Mediterranean salad. She picked the cherry tomatoes and olives and let me and Bea eat them. I cannot believe these small items are forbidden from her diet. She ordered poached eggs on the side. The two additional eggs cost P90. I almost smacked somebody.
Bea ordered Macaroni and Cheese. The gruyere + cheddar + whatever herb they added melded beautifully, making this dish really gooey good! She finished just 1/3 of this pan. What small stomach.
I was nursing another bout of sinusitis and a triggering migraine, which called for the perfect dish: Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Tomato Soup, Green Salad. The crunchy and flavorful brioche with the melted gruyere and caramelized onions was a feast; it was heaven on every bite, and complemented very well with the greens and the soup. Dipping the sandwich on the soup before taking a bite was the best part for me.
The portions were generous. We were already full but we couldn't skip on dessert.

Valrhona Salted Chocolate Cake. A surprisingly huge slice, this thing was. It can satisfy three tummies, I think. The cake was moist and dense, and the frosting's a wonderful blend of salty and sweet.
Peanut Butter Banana Cream Pie. Something I'd love to be obsessed with. Light, creamy, nutty, decadently perfect. I WANT MORE.
It was a great dinner. BUT. There's something better.

Two days ago, Bea texted me not to flake on Friday because she has something for me. I said, why, is it a boy? She said, maybe.

Today, she handed me a long envelope, which I was hesitant to open.
But then I squealed in actual delight! Yep, a sketch of Sherlockbatch! I did not expect it, obviously. That's what surprises are for, haha. I found it really sweet of Bea. At the back, she wrote, "to my sapilitang fan". Haha. Uhm, Bea, of course NOT! I have always been a fan of her talent. I still have some of her artworks from high schoolones that she might not even remember. This one's a personal sketch, though, and I am still kilig! Thank youuuu, Bea!!!!! <3

My lovely companions for the night, Ains and Jedi Beys!
Added for posterity: Inadvertently captured on photo: Pat Evangelista (at the table behind Aina, with Erwin Romulo, et al). Aina: "Nobody liked her in high school." Me: "Total freak." *croo croo look where she is now* Also spotted at another table: the Gosingtian family. They are all small.
