I love the quirkiness of this new batch I'm mentoring. It's really a breeze functioning at work when the people surrounding you fills your day with smiles and laughter. I'm awkward around new people, but being familiar with my co-mentors, and having really nice superiors, helped me appear normal at best. Having nothing to blog about myself, I'll use my new babies as my subject in this post. Ha!

One of them kept asking me if I were Chinese. A question that will go down in my history of firsts. (It has now turned into an inside joke.) My eyes popped, jaw dropped. WHAAAT?! I don't even have chinita eyes to begin with! Haha! The most inquiry I get pertaining to my lineage is of me having either European/Middle Eastern genes. (I'm part Portuguese (tiny, tiny bit), by the way.) I asked her, and some, if I really look Chinese. Thay said yes. WEIRD. WEIRD. REALLY WEIRD. I'll blame it on the graveyard shift. Vampires think differently, I guess. (This kid also compliments my lips, telling me that they're really pink. I just laugh it off. What color do you expect lips to be? Haha!)

To create rapport with the trainees, and to fight off boredom, I nag them into telling me anything about themselves. I score zero in the "starting a conversation" department so I knock it off by forcing people to entertain me. Lame. Anyway, it's been quite a success. Haha. (Pats myself on the back.) They all have interesting stories to share. Outnumbering some of the similar details in their lives is the fact that a couple of them have had recent heartbreaks. And not just any puppy love gone bad. These relationships stem from two-and-a-half to ten solid years long! Hearing their stories made me want to punch the other douche dude. Like, really hard, then throw stones at them until they bleed red. Gory? Affected? Haha. They deserve it.

I caught one of them checking flights online. I knew she will be traveling by the end of the year, and then early next, but I initially thought it was going to be with family/friends. I got all amazed when she told me she enjoys traveling alone. To give you a hint, she looks like one who travels in dresses and high heels, with a bunch of girly friends in tow. See the shock on my face? A backpacker! She plans all the itinerary herself and really digs into studying the place and surveying maps before her trip. She said she loves and seeks the thrill and adventure of the experience. Cute and exciting. Wish I could do that one day.

I have fooled people, yet again, into thinking that I am into girls. Hahahahaha! (LAUGHS FOREVER) Don't you get tired being asked if you're in a relationship? Answering yes can lead to a prolonged conversation, but having to say no all the time is boring. I spice it up by telling people that I like girls. Their inital reactions go from funny to epic. Never fails to tickle my bones. I would then tell them that it was all a hoax, surely. But some of them wouldn't get over it and still think it's true. Good times.

I'll be mentoring these kiddos for two more days. Had a lot of fun but I can't wait to get back to my normal work schedule. And I'll still see them in the morning so no bitter ending here
