Thank you very much. We do not want another Ondoy, Falcon, so you might as well head on another direction or just evaporate into nothingness. This is the first time, after so long, that I experienced a typhoon so strong.
When Ondoy happened, I was sleeping. My shift was in the afternoon so I got up at around 11 am, and to my horror, water was already sweeping our house. I immediately woke my sister up and we started evacuating things upstairs. It was just me and her. The water started rising, up and up it went, and we were stuck at the 2nd floor until the wee hours of darkness. Our phone batteries drained and we lost communication with our siblings and aunt. The craziest thing that happened was a succession of screams and gunshots long before dawn broke. Yes, shameless, heartless burglars. Sun went up the next day, flood subsided. Mud and broken things greeted us with a scornful hello. My aunt arrived home safely but with tears in her eyes as she just witnessed piles of dead bodies in the streets. Our hearts went out to all those who lost their homes, lost their loved ones. We're grateful for still having a new day to live.
It's an experience I'll never forget. Ondoy had made its mark in the lives of the Filipinos, directly affected or not. And we're all praying for a recurrence not to happen in our midst. So, let's continue keeping our fingers crossed, warriors. God is good. :)
*ON A LIGHTER NOTE, IT'S MY AUNTS' BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TJ AND TJ!!! :)
